Summary Description: The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a physician for a clinical track faculty position. The candidate will be based within the partial hospitalization program (PHP) for eating disorders for youth ages 8-24 years, a joint program between the Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry as well as provide oversight for a growing outpatient practice. The physician will provide significant clinical and administrative leadership to assure that the highest quality of psychological care is being delivered. Additional duties could include providing service to the Child Psychiatry Inpatient Unit, Psychiatric Emergency Room or Consultation Liaison Service at Mott Hospital depending upon the interests of the candidate.
The successful applicant will have some experience with eating disorders including an understanding of the medical complications of anorexia and bulimia nervosa. In the PHP, he/she will provide new patient assessments and pharmacotherapy consultations while working within a multidisciplinary team. The team will consist of a psychologist who will oversee psychotherapies, a team of social workers as well as physicians in the Adolescent Medicine service. The applicant will support trainees (from social work, psychology, pediatrics and psychiatry), assist with intake evaluations, develop and sign treatment plans, collaborate with patient's individual therapists, coordinate care between the inpatient and consultation liaison services and serve as a liaison to payers for administrative MD reviews.
MD or DO
Candidates must be currently licensed in a state and eligible for a Michigan full license to practice medicine.
Board certified or eligible for certification in Adult and Child Psychiatry
Knowledge or strong interest in eating disorders.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
Superior teaching skills are expected.
Capacity for oversight of longitudinal studies and program evaluation is preferred.
