Responsibilities*

Performs collaborative patient centered care to a varied patient population, which includes General Surgery Endocrine, Urology, Surgical Oncology, Family Medicine and Dermatology.
Provide nursing care for varied surgical diagnosis including but not limited to multiple endocrine disorders, facial trauma and reconstruction, loss of digits/limbs, skin grafts and medical diagnosis.
Assess and monitors patient status for young adult to elderly patients including response to medications, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Implements care plans and evaluates nursing care. Identify problems and needs presented by patients and families and initiate appropriate interventions.
Thoroughly documents patient care including change in patient status as required according to hospital/ unit practice. Actively participates in continuous quality improvement and safety initiates.

8C offers 8 and 12 hour shifts, shift rotation, a comprehensive orientation with a strong preceptor program and the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C, includes B.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Nursing Specific Info

Current Michigan RN license. Graduate Nurse applicants will be considered. Condition of hire for Graduate Nurses: Selected GN must successfully pass N-CLEX and be licensed as an RN in the state of Michigan no later than 45 days from date of hire.

Required Qualifications*

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
*GN applicants will be considered. The selected candidate must have successfully passed the NCLEX and be licensed as a RN in the State of Michigan before effective date of hire.

BSN preferred
Experience caring for General Surgery patient population within the last three (3) years demonstrating sound nursing skills.

Work Schedule

Hours: 20 hours per week with every other weekend commitment
Shift: Evenings, 8hr shifts
Location: University Hospital-8C, General Surgery/Medicine unit

All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
