Job Description: Assistant Professor in Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Michigan-Dearborn (UM-Dearborn) (http://umdearborn.edu/casl/mathjobs) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning September 1, 2017.
The standard teaching load is 18 credit hours per year; occasional late afternoon or evening teaching is expected. To allow more time for advancing their research programs, Assistant Professors receive release time for a total of 9 credit hours (normally 3 courses) to be used during the first 5 years of the 6-year probationary period.
Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field by the start date of the position. In addition, excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and an active scholarly agenda are expected. Although most teaching efforts will be in support of our undergraduate programs, preference will be given to candidates who can contribute to the MS in Applied and Computational Mathematics (ACM) program.
