Job Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan-Dearborn invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the areas of mechanical design and process reliability. The department is primarily interested in applicants at the assistant professor rank, although individuals at senior ranks with exceptional credentials may also be considered.  The anticipated start date for the position is September, 2017.


The successful candidate is expected to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in the areas of mechanical design and process reliability and other related areas and to establish a strong, externally funded sustainable research program.

Required Qualifications*

Applicants must have earned Ph.D. degree in Mechanical  Engineering (or a closely related field) with a strong emphasis on mechanical design, system and process reliability. Candidates in the areas of mechanical design, component and system design and analysis, theory and application of design optimization, component and system reliability and durability, and process reliability are well suited to apply for this position. Experience and expertise in product design and development, process design, and system reliability will be viewed favorably.
