The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology is seeking a full time patient care technical associate. This position will provide direct patient care as well as work with patient's insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations (medications as well as supplements) under the direction of a designated supervisor and nursing.
Process and complete prior authorizations
Performs delegated clinical or laboratory procedures
Performs routine but complex instructions for patient treatments as delegated by nursing and providers
Assists providers and nursing with prescription refills via MiChart
Assists with patient registration and interfaces with electronic medical records system
Collects patient vital signs, height and weight measurements and documents these in the electronic medical records
Assists with coordinating, preparing for, and monitoring meal times for patients and their families
Assists with collection of clinical data for research and quality improvement activities
Updates and maintains clinical databases
Other duties as assigned
Outstanding interpersonal skills and comfort in working with pediatric patients and their families
Strong written and spoken communication skills
Familiarity working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Must be a certified medical assistant
Previous experience working with a pediatric population in a multi-disciplinary setting
Strong interest in pediatric patients with lung disease
Familiarity with MiChart, Navi Net and University systems
Proficiency in patient care or health education typically achieved with one or more years of work in a health care setting
Assigned work hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
