The University of Michigan, Department of Radiology, seeks qualified applicants for a research faculty position to conduct basic and translational research in cardiovascular MRI (CVMRI), as well as aid in support of clinical CVMRI operations. The successful applicant must have strong expertise in standard anatomic and advanced functional cardiac MR acquisition techniques. Desirable is a strong background in cardiac image analysis methods using commercial software packages, as well as original software development within environments such as MatLab and IDL. First-hand experience on Philips and Siemens MRI systems is highly desirable. The position entails working within a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, MR scientists, biomedical engineers and cardiologists in ongoing translational projects. Aggressive growth toward success in publications and obtaining external research funding is expected. This position will enable the candidate to operate within an academic setting with strong interactions with medical, physics and bioengineer research partners.
The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Physics, Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. Experience and/or graduate training, publications in CVMRI and demonstrated skills in attracting research funding are required. A record of mentoring students, residents, postdoctoral fellows, technologists, physicians or other scientists is expected. The candidate shall have a solid understanding of MRI pulse sequence principles for cardiovascular applications.
Knowledge of MRI pulse sequence programming on Philips and/or Siemens MRI platforms is desirable. Experience in application of existing cardiac analysis software packages, or in development of custom software is desirable.
