The Department of Health Management and Policy (HMP) at the University of Michigan is seeking a faculty member at any level—assistant, associate or full professor—within the fields of management or organizational theory. We are interested in candidates with expertise specific to all areas of the health sector (including hospitals, long-term care, physicians and other health professionals, health insurance, or pharmaceuticals, devices and supply chain organizations) and from diverse areas of management and organizational research, including but not limited to strategic management, quality improvement, organizational change and implementation science, team and professional dynamics. We are also interested in candidates who use a range of organizational theories, from the macro to the micro-level. Combinations of areas of expertise are welcome and interdisciplinary approaches are encouraged. Individuals who have or will complete degrees in public health, health services, business, sociology, psychology, and related areas are encouraged to apply. The candidate should have a PhD by September 1, 2017.
HMP has a longstanding reputation for its contributions to design of the health care and public health system and has held the #1 position among health management and policy programs in the U.S. News and World Report rankings for over 20 years. HMP faculty have evaluated the impact of health care initiatives both large and small, and pioneered sustainable health financing methods.
Minimum requirements include an earned doctorate by September 1, 2017 in a relevant field along with recognition or promise of outstanding contributions as a scholar.
We seek researchers with strong scholarly credentials and a record or promise of external research funding. The faculty member will be expected to teach at the masters and doctorate level and as of Fall 2017, may also be teaching in the School of Public Health’s new undergraduate program. Finally, HMP values diversity as a necessary part of success in any aspect of health teaching, research, and leadership and encourages candidates to share their personal experiences of diversity with the committee.
