Job Summary

Chemistry Education: A Keck Foundation funded project (2016-2018) welcomes applicants with interest and expertise in both chemistry and education. The project brings together researchers from the University of Michigan and the University of Southern California to investigate how Writing-to-Learn pedagogies promote conceptual learning by students in chemistry courses. This project is a collaboration of the University of Michigan’s Department of Chemistry and the Sweetland Center for Writing, both within the College of Literature, Science and the Arts.


In collaboration with other project staff develop writing prompts for participating chemistry courses; collect, manage, and archive data including student interviews, student surveys, student writing samples and academic and demographic data for students in order to conduct research that could lead to peer-reviewed publications; oversee implementation of automated peer review system; participate in key aspects of cross-university collaboration, including monthly conference calls, annual project assessments and research meetings; organize, synthesize, and analyze project data, and write co-authored papers with project PIs for peer-reviewed articles.

Additional Information

This position is a full-time, 12 month appointment with an opportunity for renewal based on performance and funding.
