An Assistant/Associate Research Scientist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Alan Smrcka to study the roles of G protein coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling in cardiac disease, inflammatory disease or cancer. The laboratory has uncovered novel signal transduction pathways regulated by GPCRs that underlie disease processes in many cell types and has developed novel tools for genetic and pharmacologic manipulation of these pathways. Candidate will be expecrted to conduct research, assist with grant applications, publish and present results. The successful applicant must be willing to take on the responsibility of laboratory oversight, organization and student training.
The laboratory uses a broad range of methodologies that offers the opportunity for training in multiple disciplines. We are also highly productive and well funded and committed to development of students and postdoctoral fellows for successful scientific careers.
The position requires a Ph.D. and at least 5 years of postdoctoral experience. Experience in laboratory oversight, organization and student training is necessary. The successful applicant will have record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant scientific journals, participation at professional meetings and a record of grant funding.
The ideal candidate has a background in biochemistry or cell biology, an expertise in the following areas: Protein chemistry/purification, molecular biology or cellular imaging, and a strong track record of publication in good quality journals.
