Job Summary

The Cardiac Procedures Unit is currently seeking a Paramedic to join its established team.  This position is located in the Cardiovascular Center.

Responsibilities*

Characteristic duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Observe, monitor and document patient condition, including Vital Signs, groin management, and report changes to the medically responsible health care professional.
  • Monitoring and Removal of venous and arterial sheaths.
  • Must be able to identify the following arrhythmias:  Asystole, Ventricular fibrillation, Ventricular tachycardia, Tachy-arrhythmias, Brady-arrhythmias, Artifact, and Multiple PVCs
  • Clean equipment and work area.
  • Provide direct patient care to include:
    • Assisting patients in and out of bed.
    • Answering call lights.
    • Regaining cardiac monitor EKG's, Accuchecks, stocking of supplies, performing daily QA on testing equipment and emergency equipment.

Transport, ambulate, move and lift patients.

Required Qualifications*

  •  Current Michigan Licensure as an EMT-P.
  •  Two (2) years recent (within one (1) year) experience as a Paramedic.
  •  Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  •  Excellent clinical skills including but not limited to IV insertion, veni-puncture, and arrhythmia recognition.
  •  Excellent organizational skills.
  •  Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure of emergency situations.
  •  Current Basic Life Support Provider verification.
  •  Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider (ACLS).

Desired Qualifications*

  •  Previous Sheath Pulling exp.
  •  Knowledge of Mi-chart/Epic Documentation

Work Schedule

32 hours, Monday through Saturday.  Day/Evening rotation.  (4) 8 hour shifts; Call is required on weekdays, weekends, and holidays with one hour response time.
