The Engineering Librarian engages with faculty, staff and students primarily affiliated with the College of Engineering to advance the services, initiatives, partnerships, and strategies that support of the university’s research enterprise. The Engineering Librarian is responsible for several engineering departments specialized areas (such as data management) based on their knowledge and background. Contributing to a dynamic, collegial team that consistently provides support to the teaching, learning, and research data services needs of engineers and other researchers is a key part of this position. Successful candidates will also balance service-oriented activities including the support of instructional efforts in their assigned areas.
This position will report directly to the Engineering Lead Librarian.

Cultivate new models of engagement to create value-added services, resources and programs that support library and university initiatives.
Provide instruction in the effective use of library resources and research in various settings.
Participate and contribute to library and teaching faculty research teams where appropriate.
Assist in evaluation, selection, and review of engineering literature and information resources for inclusion in the engineering collection.
Collaborate on assessing the use of the engineering collection.
Provide reference and research consultation.
Support the research life cycle through promotion of the institutional repository and scholarly communication, including open access.
Support researchers with the data management consultation and research data services.
ALA-accredited master’s degree or equivalent combination of a relevant advanced degree and experience.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to balance multiple assignments and projects.
Familiarity with scholarly communication, research, and academic publishing practices in Engineering.
Strong user-centered commitment to outreach and service excellence.
Understands and values diversity and the importance of inclusion as demonstrated through a commitment to apply and incorporate the differences, complexities, and opportunities that diversity brings to an organization.
BA/BS degree in science, engineering, or medicine, or equivalent combination of significant academic training and experience working in a science, engineering or medical library.
Knowledge of best practices related to research data management; familiarity with data management requirements of federal agencies.
Experience in working in an academic setting to support the research life cycle.
Appointment is anticipated at the Assistant or Associate Librarian rank. Salary and rank dependent on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Librarian appointments carry with them increased expectations regarding professional development, professional engagement, research, and service, in keeping with the library's process for librarian promotion and advancement.
The target salary ranges for this position are $50,000 - $55,000 per year for the Assistant Librarian rank and $55,000 - $64,000 per year for the Associate Librarian rank. The actual salary offered may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
This position receives 24 days of vacation a year, paid sick leave with provisions for extended benefits, as well as opportunities for professional development and travel. TIAA-CREF and Fidelity Investments retirement options available.
