About Faculty Support
The faculty support department is dedicated to providing skilled and creative administrative support to a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, and visitors. This team excels in technical skills, problem-solving abilities, initiative, and a commitment to customer service. 
The coordinator position provides a wide range of professional classroom and research support services to an assigned group of innovative and distinctive faculty. The position requires individuals to work independently with minimal supervision and to work effectively as part of a dynamic team. Coordinators must have outstanding organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbal form. Coordinators need to demonstrate initiative and have the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on projects. The position requires a strong customer service orientation, good judgment and flexibility, as well as demonstrate the ability to handle confidential material with tact and discretion. 


Teaching Support
  • Create/maintain Canvas sites for classes
  • Manage uploading/printing assignments for grading
  • Maintain grades and attendance
  • Provide photo class rosters
  • Prepare seating charts and face cards
  • Assist with preparation of class presentations and simulations
  • Assist with compilation of course packs
  • Assist with textbook ordering
  • Make room reservations
Research Support and Document Preparation
  • Prepare and send out mailings 
  • Edit and/or proofread manuscripts, exams, syllabi, lecture notes, reference letters
  • Create/edit indices, citations, footnotes
  • Perform web searches and library searches
  • Create tables and charts using Excel and Powerpoint
Financials and Purchasing
  • Purchase goods and services for faculty (e.g. books, subscriptions, supplies, conf. registrations)
  • Arrange travel and hotel for faculty and visitors
  • Arrange catering for faculty events
Other Administrative Duties 
  • Serve as point of contact for faculty on special projects
  • Conference planning and event arrangements 
  • PhD recruiting
  • Arrange PhD brownbag sessions
  • Proctor exams
  • Serve on school or department committees  
  • Cross train and provide back up support for colleagues
  • Participate in training of new employees and work-study students 

Required Qualifications*

Education/Experience/Special Knowledge/Skills  
  • High school diploma, or equivalent, and at least 1-3 years previous administrative support experience, preferably in an academic setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Positive customer service-oriented attitude, flexibility and the ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, candidate must be able to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to organize workload, demonstrate attention to detail, exercise good judgement/discretion, set priorities and be able to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Substantial experience, proficiency, and accuracy with PC software in Microsoft Windows (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). The ability to learn quickly and adapt to new computer software and technologies is necessary.

  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Canvas and M-Pathways 
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of GoogleMail and GoogleDrive
  • Knowledge of standard formatting styles (e.g. APA, MLA, Chicago style)

Physical Demands/Work Environment  
  • Requires the ability to travel to various locations to conduct work and deliver materials
  • The person in this position occasionally moves through the facility to attend meetings/events and access files or information
  • The person in this position routinely moves books and class materials weighing up to 20 pounds to class locations or other venues for student residencies or other events.
