Responsibilities*

Provide data management and analysis support for planning activities in areas such as patient billing for nutritional services, expense monitoring, internal controls,
budget development and analysis, and operating finances. Candidate must fully grasp the complexity of financial management, have an understanding of
databases and data analysis procedures, and possess the drive to ensure information flows timely and accurately to and from the department.
 
Through a deep understanding of financial data and how its integration and analysis can help in decision-making, the Business Analyst Senior will conceptualize
and develop cross-functional strategic objectives, business processes, and initiatives that drive or increase value/efficiencies. Manage and administer the design
and development of performance dashboards, modeling changes, and process updates in partnership with departmental managers, departmental leadership, and
external resources as necessary. Participate in creating budgets and forecasts working directly with department managers. Lead and guide business process
improvement discussions and provide advice on potential resolutions including gathering the support necessary for initiatives. Develop and present reports, trend
graphs, performance dashboards, variance analysis, and other reports appropriate for the audience. Assist in identifying and leading change management
processes for new/improved business processes, tools, and resources. Manage cross-functional projects and/or teams which include project planning, task
management, status reporting, etc
 
In partnership with departmental leadership, create and enforce policies for effective financial management for better decision support. As a knowledge expert,
advocate for techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy of data. Troubleshoot variances and provide recommended solutions.
Establish standards and business processes for reporting including template design, visualization, data models, and queries appropriate to support service
departments and the budget, planning and management functions. Create or contribute to a dashboard reporting system for departmental and financial reporting
groups.
 
In partnership with financial systems and information technology personnel, promote and develop effective change management processes in order to ensure all
stakeholders have a voice in financial data quality and use.
 
As part of the Support Services team, devise and implement efficient and secure procedures for financial processes and results analysis with attention to all users
of the reports. Perform regular and ad hoc statistical analyses related to a wide range of functions and activities. Compile, analyze and present information about
the departments using data related to human resources, payroll, budgets, finances, and patient census.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors degree with at least 5 years of experience in financial reporting, analysis and administration; extremely detail oriented with the ability to recognize and investigate anomalies; ability to understand complex business processes and the inter-relatedness of financial operating data across Support Services; competence in queries and working with financial systems at UMHS (Business Intelligence, Peoplesoft, and other departmental software programs); demonstrated ability to produce visually understandable data using a common software; sound organizational skills and the ability to successfully multi-task; excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work with numeric data, manipulate data representations and visualizations, and translate financial reports into meaningful operational information; competence in interpreting and representing financial data; demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to coordinate
