Provide leadership for the undergraduate programs within the School of Nursing-traditional/four year major, RN to BSN and accelerated second degree. The Director will serve as the catalyst to enhance our undergraduate programs and join a strong leadership team in providing positive direction for the School of Nursing. In this role, the nursing leader will work collaboratively with the Dean of the School of Nursing to oversee daily operations and drive strategic planning for undergraduate programs.
* Work collaboratively with the Dean of the School of Nursing on matters of resources, including space, budget and personnel.
* Oversee the day-to-day management and operations of the Undergraduate Programs.
* Undertake program efforts for recruitment and retention of students and faculty.
* Provide input to the Dean of the School of Nursing regarding appointments and evaluation of faculty (regular and adjunct) and staff.
* Provide input to the Dean of the School of Nursing regarding short and long term budgetary needs related to the undergraduate programs.
* In collaboration with the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, lead the development, implementation and evaluation of assessment plans for Undergraduate Programs and student outcomes in conjunction with appropriate school and university efforts.
* Manage external contracts specific to the program functions.
* Inform Dean of program faculty, staff and student issues.
* Implement ongoing program review process.
* Collaborate with the Dean of the School and faculty in organizing development activities specific to the Undergraduate Programs and within guidelines of the University.
* Chair the Undergraduate Faculty Committee.
* Recommend to the Dean of the School the names of students who have successfully completed the requirements for the BSN.
* Teach and advise undergraduate nursing students.
An earned doctorate in Nursing or a related field; MSN required; teaching scholarship and service accomplishments commensurate with rank of assistant professor at hire; leadership experience in an academic setting; evidence of supporting faculty governance and collegial decision-making and problem solving; ability to work effectively in multicultural settings with a commitment to diversity; success in obtaining external funding; strong interpersonal and written communication skills; and possession of or eligibility for an unencumbered Michigan RN license.
