Job Summary

The University of Michigan, Department of Radiology, seeks qualified applicants for a faculty position to conduct basic and translational research in medical ultrasound and related imaging

Responsibilities*

The successful applicant must utilize strong experimental and instrumentation expertise in ultrasound (US), acoustics, signal and image processing, and quantification of biophysical properties of tissues. Desirable is a strong background in some combination of imaging and biological theory, electronic & mechanical hardware design and development, software development, image and signal processing, basic laboratory research and planning of clinical studies and their analysis. The position entails working with a multidisciplinary team on the development and testing of diagnostic imaging devices and in applications of ultrasound.  Timely success in obtaining external research funding will be required. This position will provides the opportunity to operate within an academic setting with strong interactions with medical and industrial research partners. This position will also enable the candidate to mentor students, residents, postdoctoral fellows, technologists, physicians and other scientists in the laboratory.

Required Qualifications*

 The successful candidate should have a  M.D./Ph.D.or Ph.D. in Physics, Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering or a related field. Experience and/or graduate training plus substantial publications as well as demonstrated skills in attracting research funding are required.  Skill in mentoring students, residents, postdoctoral fellows, technologists, physicians and other scientists is required. A record of review service for scientific journals and a national granting agency is desired.
