Postdoctoral Researcher (134120) Position 2 Openings
The University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (http://www.umtri.umich.edu) is a global leader in conducting research and development that improves the safety and sustainability of surface transportation systems. UMTRI invites applications for two postdoctoral researcher positions in the area of connected and automated transportation systems development. Areas of particular interests include design and implementation of dedicated testing facilities for connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), design and implementation of a driverless city with mobility as a service, big data management and analytics for CAVs, monitoring, modeling, and control of connected and automated transportation systems. The responsibilities of the position include collaborating with faculty, staff, and students on research projects, interacting with sponsors and external collaborators, writing technical reports, conference papers, and journal articles, and presenting at conferences and technical meetings. International travel might be needed to conduct the research projects.
The positions require a Ph.D. in engineering or the physical sciences, with an emphasis on transportation research. Candidates with practical knowledge in one or more of the following areas are preferred: CAV data standards, testing procedures, CAV data capture and visualization, as well as roadway design and traffic signal control systems. Candidates are required to have strong core fundamentals that allow them to work across disciplinary boundaries.
