Job Summary

Michigan Medicine, University of Michigan has an opening for the Director of Human Resources Strategy. This position will serve as a member of the leadership team within the Human Resources Department and will provide oversight for strategic workforce planning, talent acquisition and HR analytics efforts within the organization.

Responsibilities*

  • Lead the analysis of the Michigan Medicine workforce and, in partnership with operational leadership, identify talent requirements and critical skill gaps across the organization
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the development of talent metrics and predictive analytics to determine future staffing needs based upon Michigan Medicine strategic goals
  • Develop and deliver presentations to HR and operational leaders on workforce trends and metrics that impact strategic plan outcomes
  • Design and implement management tools to optimize workforce planning, analysis, and reporting
  • Lead talent acquisition strategy development, working collaboratively with operational and HR leaders in identification and attainment of strategic priorities
  • Implement innovative and effective talent acquisition strategies which enable Michigan Medicine strategic growth and, optimize the Michigan Medicine employer brand and presence within the community and across online and social media platforms
  • Ensure efficient and lean employment processes which optimize applicant throughput, the identification of excellent candidates and compliance with employment regulations and University policies
  • Implement workforce plans and talent acquisition strategies which promote a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Serve as primary liaison to University Human Resources Information Services and University Information Technology Services for HRIS projects and provide Michigan Medicine project management for HRIS upgrades, implementations and associated customer readiness activities
  • Serve as the Michigan Medicine HR Data Steward, and in collaboration with the University Human Resources Data Steward and Michigan Medicine Leadership, review and approve requests related to system enhancements and HR data access
  • Serve as a member of the Michigan Medicine HR Leadership Team, collaborate on departmental operational decisions and assume additional HR areas of responsibility, as assigned

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or other business related field
  • 5 or more years experience in HR, Management, or Health Care Administration
  • 3 or more years at a supervisor/manager level
  • Demonstrated experience in talent management, workforce planning and/or HR analytics
  • Strong demonstrated leadership ability, including collaborative decision making and teamwork
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills including oral, written and presentation skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Innovative thinker who can bring a strategic approach to the function

Desired Qualifications*

  • Masters Degree in Human Resources or other related business field
  • 10 or more years experience in HR, Management, or Health Care Administration
  • Certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR or SHRM-SPC)
  • Substantial demonstrated experience in business analytics
  • Demonstrated experience in leveraging HR Systems/technology to create workforce analytics and metrics
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and utilizing predictive analytics and statistical modeling
  • Knowledge of UMHS and University financial and human resources administrative systems and reporting environments
