How to Apply
Submit resume, cover letter, and an example of a usability test report you’ve written.
Are you ready to be a star?
We are seeking two excellent UX researchers to design and conduct a high-visibility usability test on a very tight schedule. The purpose of this exercise is to produce video examples of usability test sessions for the edX MOOC “Evaluating Designs with Users,” which is part of the UX Research and Design Micromasters program. We are expecting thousands of learners for the course, so your work will be highly visible and seen as a paradigm for good UX practice. How will that look on your resume?
The details of the test (for example, the product being tested) are still being worked out and may be negotiable. The particular work involved will include:
Produce a written usability test plan for the selected product
Recruit five test participants from the target population
Conduct usability test sessions, using Think Aloud, to be recorded and used as part of the MOOC
This work will be performed with feedback and supervision by Professor Mark Newman and the learning design staff in UM’s Office of Academic Innovation (AI). Recordings will be done at AI’s studios at 500 E. Washington Street, a short walk from North Quad.
Demonstrated skill in designing and conducting high-quality usability tests
Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to turn around high quality work on a tight deadline (filming needs to be complete by Feb. 28, 2017)
In addition to fame, you will be paid $15/hr for your time
- We expect the job to start immediately and consume a maximum of 20-30 hours over the next few weeks.
