Job Summary

The Office of Enrollment Management is looking for the ideal candidate to serve as a resource to management and staff across Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) for budgetary and financial matters.  Assist with the preparation of budgets.  Develop, prepare and analyze management level reports.  Responsible for validating the accuracy of financial data.

Responsibilities*

  • Monitors and validates accuracy of budget and financial data for division
  • Maintain division budget and financial databases and documentation
  • Develop, prepare and analyze financial reports – budget to actual, variance reporting, forecasts, trend analysis, etc.
  • Assist with the annual budget submission
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and projections as requested
  • Review expenditures to ensure conformance to budgetary limitations
  • Work with Shared Services Center to correct inconsistencies with data and complete journal entries
  • Submit, audit and approve expenses
  • Liaison with Procurement for contracts and purchases. Advise staff on procurement policies and procedures
  • Serve as the OEM PCard expert to users and approvers.
  • May serve as the OEM Financial Unit Liaison (UL)

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration, finance, accounting or a relatable field of study.

3-5 years of progressively responsible professional experience, preferably in accounting or finance.

Demonstrated data and process analysis skills, ability to develop recommendations and communicate findings.

Ability to develop and generate accurate financial reports within established timelines.

Skilled with translating data into useful management information; knowledgeable with use of visual data and creation of charts and graphs.

Knows and applies fundamental financial concepts, practices and procedures to business processes.

Detail-oriented and highly organized, ability to function effectively in an active, engaging environment.

Possess strong technical skills and the ability to use desktop software effectively including Microsoft Word and Excel. Final candidates must complete skills assessment testing.

Experience with data querying software, ability to utilize existing queries and develop/write new reports as necessary.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to build successful relationships with a wide variety of people at all levels.

Desired Qualifications*

Master’s degree in related field.

Knowledge of U-M policies and procedures.

Knowledge of U-M financial data warehouse and competence creating Business Objects queries.

Headed by the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, the Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) was established in the fall of 2014 and provides campus-wide leadership in executing the strategic recruitment, admission, enrollment, records management and student financial support functions for the university.
