The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is currently recruiting for a Call Center Representative Associate.
This candidate will be supporting our Orthopaedic Department Call Center located at the North Campus
Administrative Complex. This Call Center supports a complex and multiple-physician practice, servicing
both adult and pediatric patients located at multiple sites (Taubman Center, South Main Orthopaedics,
Children's and Women's Hospital, Northville Health Center, Brighton Health Center, Canton Health
Call center personnel are responsible for the accurate scheduling of physician appointments at all sites; as
well as completion of telephone encounters and in-basket messaging through MiChart to clinical
personnel. The Call Center is responsible for managing the internal referral queue, as well as external fax
server to transcribe and create referrals to Orthopaedics.
The individual chosen for this position will be responsible for meeting the highest standard of customer
service. They will facilitate the communication between patients and families, general public, payers,
referring physicians and other healthcare providers. Required skills include a working knowledge of a
personal computer and standard “office” software with the ability to type at least 50 wpm and have basic
e-mail experience. Medical terminology knowledge is required. High school diploma or equivalent is required
and 0-2 years of experience.
Previous experience with U of M software systems such as MiChart, Aspect, and
Outlook is preferred. Medical insurance knowledge, previous experience in an
Orthopaedic clinical setting, and general office support experience will be a plus.
