Job Summary

Assist in the day to day conduct of the Michigan Spinal Cord Injury System (MSCIS) at the University of Michigan. This includes scheduling and conducting interviews on a variety of psychosocial and medical topics; entering data into study databases; conducting medical record abstraction; ensuring compliance with federal regulations concerning the protection of human subjects; and other activities in support of the research program.
 
This is a 15 hour per week temporary appointment through December, 2017. There is a possibility of the position extending for a longer period of time, pending available funding. Hourly salary range is $13-$18, depending on experience.

Responsibilities*

This includes scheduling and conducting interviews on a variety of psychosocial and medical topics; entering data into study databases; conducting medical record abstraction; ensuring compliance with federal regulations concerning the protection of human subjects; and other activities in support of the research program.

Required Qualifications*

· A minimum of one year experience working in a research setting  
· Experience scheduling and conducting face-to-face or telephone interviews  
· Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills  
· A quick study, able to learn study procedures and medical terminology quickly
· Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
· Comfort talking with people from varied backgrounds about potentially sensitive topics
· A team player who can  work well independently and take initiative in identifying and solving problems
· Some scheduling flexibility to accommodate occasional interviews in the evening or on weekends
· Bachelor's Degree in the social or health sciences

Desired Qualifications*

• Experience, personally or professionally, with persons with physical disabilities
• Knowledge of medical terminology 
• Experience with medical record abstraction
