Responsibilities*

Provide direct patient care to multiple pediatric populations (ICU, general care, and OP).                                                                                                                                                                             Maintain airway, vital signs, monitoring EKG, arterial lines, pain management (epidural and PCA's).
Provide patient/family education.
Provide patient and family centered care.
Collaborate with all members of the health care team to meet the complex care requirements and management of pediatric population. 
Candidate must be highly motivated to provide excellent care and patient advocacy.
Care is inclusive of entire perioperative experience (pre-operative and post-op care, including discharge and phone triage).                                                                                                              Occational on-call and weekend obligations.

Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required Qualifications*

Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.
1-2 years of recent pediatric experience (within 3 years)
Minimum 1 year recent (within 3 years) ICU, ED, PACU, Moderate Care or Stable Vent RN Experience
Experience with airway management
Excellent verbal/written communication
Excellent time management
45-minute response time (on-call shifts)

Desired Qualifications*

PALS and ACLS certification
Experience with pain management, sedation/analgesia and in a monitored care setting
Ability to problem solve
Ability to delegate effectively and efficiently
CPAN certified
CAPA certified
Knowledge of patient and family centered care philosophy
Experience with patient and family education
Evidence of continuous professional development activities
Knowledge of University of Michigan Health System nursing policies and practices

Work Schedule

Hours: 40 hours/week
Shift: Day/Evenings, 4-10 hours shifts; 8a - 6:30p. 
Location: Mott Childrens Hospital PACU

Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
