The School of Nursing (UMSN), Department of Health Behavior and Biological Sciences is recruiting a nursing professional with clinical experience in Acute Care Pediatrics to teach a seminar and clinical section in course N637 –Acute Care Pediatric Advanced Practice Nursing Clinical Practicum I. Course times TBD.
N637 –Acute Care Pediatric Advanced Practice Nursing Clinical Practicum I: This precepted clinical practicum provides students the opportunity to obtain a comprehensive health history, apply advanced physical assessment skills, and utilize advanced physiology/pathophysiology, and pharmacology knowledge to promote health, prevent illness, and manage acute illness and stable chronic illness in infants, children and adolescents. Selected health promotion, stress and coping, cultural theories and evidence-based findings will be applied to manage acute health conditions of infants, children, and adolescents with acute illness and stable chronic illness with diverse backgrounds (e.g. age, culture, ethnicity, race, sexuality, and socioeconomic status). Emphasis will be placed on primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of health promotion and disease prevention. Students will be placed with clinical preceptors appropriate to their role (e.g. Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner).

- A master of nursing degree is required.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have both didactic and clinical teaching experience.
- A nursing license in the State of Michigan is required for this position (current licensure or willingness to obtain licensure).
- Must be certified as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC) in the State of Michigan.
- Prior to the start date, the selected candidates must be in compliance with all health requirements.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
