The University of Michigan Investment Office seeks an entry-level Investment Analyst to provide support for the oversight and management of the University's investment portfolios. You will become part of the Investment Analyst Program, a multi-year developmental program which involves rotation through several investment disciplines and with different staff. In addition to base salary, there is an incentive bonus, and meaningful increases with successful progression.
Duties include: preparing investment reports on performance, asset allocation and risk characteristics of portfolios; investment research; liaise with consultants and custodian bank staff; support operations; identify and resolve standard investment accounting, performance measurement and compliance issues; initiate fund transfers and monitor fund additions, withdrawals and distributions; monitor external managers including the analysis of portfolios, staffing, investment performance and compliance with guidelines; assist in determining the selection of investment managers; document management. Some travel will be required.
Bachelor's degree; an understanding of and interest in investing; strong quantitative and verbal skills; a proven ability to create and utilize complex spreadsheets; a demonstrated attention to detail and a collaborative work style. A basic analytical skills test (up to 2 hours allowed) will be required as part of the interview process. Exposure to investment analysis is desired.
