The Department of Dermatology at Livonia is the newest Dermatology Ambulatory Unit (ACU), opening later this year, dedicated to providing high quality dermatologic services, located at 19900 Haggerty Road #105, Livonia MI 48152. We are actively seeking compassionate, enthusiastic, and patient-oriented individuals who will share in the goal of creating the ideal experience for our patients, families and employees. This position will provide support in managing the day-to-day operations of the Dermatology outpatient Livonia Clinic.
Accurately and efficiently schedule patient appointments utilizing Cadence. Management of pre-arrival functions to assure all necessary information has been obtained for clinic visits. Provides customer service to patients by facilitating business processes including appointment scheduling, check-in and check-out, pre-arrival and telephone triage. Ensure completeness of visit information including type of visit, reason for service, charge for service and diagnostic codes for processing professional and facility charges. Serve as a resource for physicians and other staff, patients, and outside third parties for insurance authorizations and other managed care related issues. Respond to patient inquiries related to special requirements of insurance plans, directing patient to insurance carrier as needed to address coverage and benefit questions. Obtain insurance approvals using established insurance company guidelines. Assist patients with payment questions on the phone or in person. Collect payments, co-pays and past due balances at patient check out using established department guidelines. Reconcile clinic cash collections and credit card transactions daily according to specified clinic standards. Participate in creating efficient patient flow coordinating with nursing and faculty. Coordinates and facilitates communication between primary care physicians and managed care plans, specialists, managed care operations, clinic personnel and patients regarding authorization for service and other insurance inquiries. Assists in identifying and resolving operational problems, and trains new staff members.
High School Diploma. Must present a professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty, management, and staff. Proven excellence in customer service. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting. Communicates effectively. Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal, and information technology skills. Must be able to multitask under pressure and possess strong problem solving skills. Demonstrated record of excellent attendance. Ability to complete multiple tasks independently.
Knoweldge of basic medical terminology. Experience working within a large, complex healthcare setting. Reasonable knowledge of computerized patient management system (MiChart/Epic) and working knowledge of Cadence for appointment scheduling and insurance referrals. Knowledge of UM policies/procedures.
Work schedule may vary during the orientation training process from schedule at Livonia ACU.
This position will be located at the Livonia ACU. As part of the orientation training process, training may be held at multiple locations including Domino’s Farms ACU and the Taubman Dermatology ACU for the first few months of the position.
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
