Job Summary

The CT Supervisor partners with the Administrative Manager to facilitate daily clinical operations of the department; communicates effectively in ways that enhance productivity and build respectful relationships.  The primary objectives of the CT supervisor are to supervise subordinate staff members, assist with staff meetings, interview, select and train new staff; coordinate staff schedules, payroll, disciplinary action and conduct employee evaluations.  The supervisor assumes responsibility in the absence of the Administrative Manager.  Performs CT scans during times of limited resources. The CT afternoon supervisor supervises inpatient, outpatient, emergency department and ACU after hour operations.


Under the direction of the CT Manager, incumbent is responsible for providing leadership and professional expertise for CT staff and, partnering with other imaging division managers.

Performs duties of a CT Technologist during times of resource limitations.

The scope of the CT Radiology Supervisor includes all CT services provided.

Incumbent is responsible (directly or indirectly) for all subordinate staff activities related to human resource management: hiring, promotion, salary changes, performance coaching, disciplinary actions, training and development, ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.

Incumbent has measurable impact on operational effectiveness, attainment of department/unit objectives, service to customers and attainment of research goals. Demonstrate good judgment, understand and apply guest relation skills following the Patient and Families First Principles.

The primary duty of the CT Radiology Supervisor in this classification is the management of the staff and daily operations of CT Radiology.

The CT Radiology Supervisor has an impact on budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling, and procedural change.

Under FLSA, this is the exempt job classification for this title. Incumbents in this position must meet the full criteria for exempt status.

Maintain current ARRT registration.  Maintain compliance with the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs CT installations ionizing radiation Rules and the American College of Radiology CT Accreditation Program requirements.

Understand and apply Guest Relations skills and display excellent customer service skills.

Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. 

Demonstrated excellent team work skills.

Other duties and responsibilities  as required.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of educational and reasonable professional experience with some prior supervisory experience or team leader experience.

Current certification by the ARRT.

Advanced CT certification by the ARRT.

BLS certification.

Effective interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to handle difficult situations and communicate appropriately.

Ability to work independently within a team concept.

Basic computer skills.

Detailed orientated.



Knowledgeable and experienced with all patient populations, understanding age appropriate guidelines for communication, positioning and radiation protection.

Demonstrates excellent customer service skills utilizing critical thinking skills that demonstrate ingenuity, creativity and professionalism.

Desired Qualifications*

Proficiency with all Radiology Computer systems.

Supervisory experience.

Project management experience. 

Proven on the job leadership skills.

Demonstrated ability to problem solve, good communication skills, address staffing needs and meet operational needs.
