The University of Michigan Wolverine Pathways program was established to increase the high school graduation rate, college acceptance and retention rates of academically promising scholars in Ypsilanti, Southfield and Detroit. The Program is in need of individuals to review and evaluate scholar applications. This is a short-term (up to two weeks), work-from-home, part-time, temporary position. Work space can be provided on campus if needed.
Internet connection requirements: All Application Review Specialists who work from home are required to provide and maintain their own internet connection capable of meeting work requirements. Internet specifications include:
- Computer should be connected to a cable modem or router preferably with a wired connection using an Ethernet cable provided by reader
- High speed cable modem connectivity is desired configuration (min 3 Mbps download and 768 Kbps upload)
- DSL is a problem and not sufficient, especially DSL to wireless
Review and evaluate applications for 7th and 10th grade students who have applied to the Wolverine Pathways program. Provide a timely, comprehensive written assessment of the quality of each application. The assessment will include the evaluation of subjective and objective information including a decision recommendation. Must demonstrate flexibility by keeping up-to-date with any procedural or guideline changes, which might impact review of applications. Must maintain communication and interaction with Supervisor as well as other staff as needed during the review process. Ensure confidentiality and security of application files and all materials at all times. Work independently with a high degree of confidence in an online environment.
Participate in an on-campus training session, attend periodic update meetings, and other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree. Familiarity with review and evaluation of written material, especially at the middle school level. Strong oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to provide both oral and written direction. Familiarity/experience with using Windows-based computer programs. Proficient and comfortable with working independently on computers and with a variety of applications.
