Job Summary

The Social Media & Technology Assistant for the Women’s Educational Center is a grant-funded position to further develop technology and social media strategies to reach a larger number of students in providing information and a platform for discussion about sexual violence. The social media assistant will manage all social media accounts for the Women’s Educational Center and the It’s on Us Peer Educator program. In conjunction with the Sexual Assault Prevention & Awareness Advocate, they will create a strategic plan for marketing events, and providing new ways of engaging students looking to get involved in sexual assault prevention, as well as searching for resources and reporting options.  Having a strategic plan for utilizing technology and social media will give students information on how to report violence, resources available, and offer moderated online discussions and trainings for students to engage in critical discussion about sexual assault and help build an online community of students working together to end sexual violence.

 

Please note that this position is grant-funded and will end on December 1, 2017.

Responsibilities*

-Responsible for managing social media accounts for It’s on Us Peer Educators on Facebook, including interacting with students during “Live” trainings offered online.

-Creation and management of Instagram, and SnapChat for Peer Educators.

-Responsible for managing social media accounts for Women’s Educational Center on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and OrgSync.

-Assist with strategic planning on marketing events and workshops, along with targeting hard to reach populations.

-Assist with strategic planning on creating online community of students engaged in anti-violence work; as well as online resources for students who have experienced violence

-Do photography at events for social media as needed

-Update Women’s Educational Center website using Drupal

-Evaluate and assess effectiveness of social media

-Coordinate implementation of sexual assault prevention module for incoming students in conjunction with Orientation

-Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*

-Associates degree or minimum Junior year status

-Proven experience with social media managing

-Basic technology skills in Microsoft

-Experience with graphic design or knowledge/experience with related programs (Publisher, InDesign, etc)

-Ability to evaluate media for effectiveness

-Effective written communication skills

Desired Qualifications*

-Bachelor’s degree

-Familiarity with Drupal

-Experience in anti-violence activism, particularly online

-Experience in strategic planning
