Job Summary

The Emergency Department (ED) Patient Services Assistant is an integral member of the ED Team, providing non-clinical support for faculty, staff, patients, families, and visitors across all aspects of the ED patient visit.  The ED Patient Services Assistant rotates to all ED treatment areas.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  Greet ED patients and visitors, screen and route internal and external phone calls, process orders for diagnostic studies, facilitate communication with ancillary services, contact outside facilities for medical records, assist patients/visitors with comfort measures, phone calls, and information requests, to ensure the best possible patient experience.  This is a temporary position with a variable schedule, and would potentially including holidays and weekend shifts.

Required Qualifications*

High school diploma. Minimum two years of clerical experience in a public contact setting. Excellent communication and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize responsibilities.

Desired Qualifications*

One or more years clerical experience in a health care setting. Experience working with electronic health records
