Job Summary

This job opening is for a Temporary Float RN position within the Central Staffing Resource Department (CSR).  The specific cluster is for the Interventional Radiology Department.

**NEW BASE RATE & SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS FOR CSR STAFF NURSE TEMPS, effective 5/8/16**

Wage: $45.00/hr base rate
Evening Shift Differential is $5.00 per hour for 3p-7p and $4.00 per hour for 7p-11p
Night Shift Differential is $ 3.00 per hour
Weekend Differential is $5.00 per hour

Responsibilities*

Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients during interventional radiology procedures, including monitoring the patient and/or providing sedation per UMHS policy.  The nurse will prioritize and provide patient and family centered care, in an organized, efficient, professional and timely manner. Will also identify emergency situations, and initiated nursing actions and seeks assistance.

Required Qualifications*

  • Must have a current Michigan Registered Nurse License.
  • Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, AND at least two (2) years (within the past two (2) years) of ICU, ED, IR or Cardiac Catherization Lab experience.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and problem solving skills, ability to work collaboratively with others, and excellence interpersonal skills.
  • ACLS certification is required

**This position involves the following:

  • Constant standing, walking, and transporting of equipment
  • Patient lifting, positioning, pushing, twisting, and/or transferring of patients (and/or equipment)
  • Wearing a lead apron (approx. 20-25lbs) for several hours at a time
  • Monitoring of paitents from at least 20 feet, including low light situations
  • Medication management according to organization policy, including controlled substances
  • Electric documentation, according to organization policy

Additional Information

TEMPORARY FLOAT NURSE GUIDELINES
1). All CSR employees are required to attend an annual educational Blitz to complete required
UM mandatories and compentencies (BCLS every 2 yrs, Cardiac Arrest and maintain all
other applicable certifications).
2). Temporary Float Nurses are expected to work all shifts requested unless no work is
available. It is the intention that all Temps will float to all units within the cluster speciality.
3). A Temporary Nurse should work 24 hours per 4 week schedule block. You may request four
(4), eight (8), or twelve (12) hours shifts in advance.
4.) Temporary Nurses in the CSR Clusters are NOT required to work weekends or holidays.
5). Temporary Nurses will participate in a newly designed, streamlined, onboarding/orientation
program. However, the progression of orientation will be dependent upon clinical
competency, staffing needs of the individual units, and the number of hours worked by the
Temporary RN.
