Job Summary

Responsible for managing the day-to-day custodial operations of a designated area. This position has direct responsibility for supervising 18-25 custodians in their area and to ensure the custodial staff are following the appropriate procedures.  

**This is a midnight shift, 12 a.m.- 8:30 a.m. Monday-Friday.**

Responsibilities*

  • Plan work activities and establish work schedules and staffing requirements using the OS1 Cleaning System standards.

  • Ensure policies and procedures are being followed correctly.

  • Resolve employee complaints and grievances, including the first step grievance.

  • Initiate disciplinary process including recommendation for discharge.

  • Maintain safety standards to assure compliance with the University, State and Federal codes and regulations.

  • Coordinate the flow of work or services between departments and assist in the resolution of inter-departmental operating problems.

  • Conduct Quality Assurance inspections on buildings and resolve issues.

  • Collaborate with facility managers to ensure customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications*

  • High school graduate or GED and a combination of college and work experience.

  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in custodial operations and/or supervisory experience.

  • Experience working in a union environment, including knowledge of labor contract administration.

  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.

  • Excellent customer service skills a must!

  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships with a diverse group of people.

Desired Qualifications*

  • 2-4 years of supervisory experience in a union environment.

  • Familiarity with the OS1 custodial operating system.

  • Experience with FMS (AIM) Work Management System.

  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
