This individual will divide their time between coordinating a Center grant in Orthopaedic Surgery and assisting the research manager with post-award grants management.
**This is a 20 hour/week position.**
Specific responsibilities for the center include arranging regular meetings and events, including quarterly and annual meetings (including catering and room reservations), developing itineraries, and making travel arrangements for internal and external faculty and guests. This person will also be responsible for assisting with writing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports including tracking awards, publications, etc. for inclusion. In addition, he/she will develop surveys, conduct trend analyses and update the center website.
This person will also manage the pilot grant program as part of the center. This will include handling all inquiries about the program and receiving all applications to forward onto the center leadership. They will also review all the grant applications for compliance to the guidelines. In addition, they will be responsible for all aspects of the grants management of the center. This person will work with the core leaders and administrator to establish the annual budgets and will establish meetings to review the Core budgets with each of the Core Directors. They will also attend meetings with each of the Pilot Project principal investigators to review budgets on a monthly basis.
Responsibilities for assisting with post-award management include processing invoices and providing Principal Investigators with daily monitoring of grants and contracts to ensure expenses are being paid according to contract. Will assist to interpret regulations and guidelines of program funding for various external and internal sponsors and prepares periodic reports for granting agency. Responsible for reconciling monthly statements, matching invoices with orders and various other duties as assigned by the research manager.
- Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years experience in managing multiple administrative duties.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Budgetary skills are necessary.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Previous UM experience with finances, grants, Concur system, and other UM systems.
- Basic statistical knowledge for trend analyses.
