Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, provides direct patient care including: answering patient call lights, assisting patients with routine personal hygiene including daily weights, baths, nutrition, I&O's, walking, etc. Maintain patient care area and supplies in an organized manner and stock supplies and linen as needed. Assist with patient discharge and/or admission activities. Document in accordance with established protocols and report observations to RN. Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and to work as part of health care team.
Six to 12 months of prior direct patient care experience in an acute care setting. Course work in allied health field. Demonstrated interpersonal communication and problem solving skills. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidate is able to work collaboratively under direct supervision of a registered nurse with strong communication and problem solving skills. Ability to perform safe and effective patient care in a busy multiple patient ratio arena. Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities which include moving, transporting and positioning patients and equipment.
Demonstrated excellent attendance record.
Hours/Week: 24 hrs/week
