Job Summary

The Research Area Specialist will work with the PI (Dr. Brahmajee Nallamothu - interventional cardiologist) and an interdisciplinary team to support an American Heart Association (AHA) Innovative Development grant as well as other projects relating to use of Big Data and novel analytical tools for guiding precision health. The primary goal of the AHA research is to develop a computer-based platform tool to assist with coronary angiogram video interpretation. Other projects will include evaluating imaging data as well as electronic health record and claims data as part of the PI’s larger funded work from the campus-wide data science MIDAS initiative.

This will be a full time position for the duration of the two year grant. This individual will report to the Managing Director of the Michigan Center for Health Analytics and Medical Prediction.

Responsibilities*

For the AHA research, the Research Area Specialist will organize and manage project data; de-identify and annotate coronary angiograms; assist with IRB protocol development and submit protocol amendments and annual continuing reviews; schedule project team meetings and draft meeting agendas; proactively track study timelines and deadlines; coordinate conference calls with off-site faculty consultants; oversee data transfer from a collaborating academic institution; maintain meticulous study files; track study expenses; organize literature reviews; and assist with manuscript development. Other duties as assigned will overlap with additional projects.

Required Qualifications*

Intermediate Level

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 4-5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of UM IRBMED and experience with eResearch a plus.
  • Data management experience.
  • Interest in issues of health care quality and outcomes assessment.
  • Personal commitment to high quality work and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision and regularly exercise judgment in setting priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and team player attitude.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and individually while meeting deadlines.

Associate Level

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of UM IRBMED and experience with eResearch a plus.
  • Data management experience.
  • Interest in issues of health care quality and outcomes assessment.
  • Personal commitment to high quality work and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Desired Qualifications*

  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field is preferred.
  • Reasonable knowledge of University policies and procedures.

Work Schedule

The position is full time.  The work schedule is typically Monday-Friday, 8 hours daily.
