Job Summary

Perform radiographic procedures to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries. Perform EKG’s. Demonstrate abilities to evaluate technical quality of radiographs and EKG’s. Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) activities and departmental projects.

Responsibilities*

  • Operate all medical equipment, ensuring proper use of equipment and software operations.
  • Interpret patient histories and physician instructions.
  • Explain and prepare patients for radiologic and EKG examinations.
  • Position and perform diagnostic radiographic procedure. Utilize proper technique and exposure factors through the application of ionizing radiation.
  • Practice radiation protection.
  • Process images by computer manipulation and evaluate images for diagnostic quality.
  • Utilize sterile technique.
  • Perform limited maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in processing radiology and EKG orders using the electronic ordering system and perform other office procedures as required.
  • Assist in all quality assurance responsibilities.
  • Assist in maintaining radiology manuals.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of medical supplies.
  • Assist in instructing students in radiologic procedures.
  • Participate in in-service education
  • Perform related work as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Administrative and functional supervision is received from the Radiology Manager.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Functional supervision of x-ray students during the examination of patients.

NOTE: THIS IS A PART-TIME 20 HOUR A WEEK SEASONAL POSITION WITH 6 TO 8 WEEKS OFF DURING THE MONTHS OF JUNE-AUGUST.

Required Qualifications*

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school and meets the requirements for registry by the ARRT.
  • Demonstrated patient care and customer service skills.
  • Flexibile, self-motivated and detail-oriented.
  • CPR certified.

Desired Qualifications*

  • EKG skills.
  • At least one year of experience.
  • Knowledge of University policy and procedures
  • Degree in Business or Healthcare.
  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills.
