The University of Michigan Law School is seeking applications from exceptional student services’ specialists to join its Office of Student Records. Qualified candidates must be meticulous, organized, quick learners, and be able to multi-task. They must also possess professional written and verbal communication skills and enjoy working as part of a small, fast-paced customer service-oriented team.

The Student Administrator Assistant Intermediate will have responsibilities in four key areas:

Degree Audit Management (30%)

Set up a system to produce accurate pre-and final degree audits in a timely manner. Meet with students to review progress toward degrees and keep them informed of any outstanding requirements. Develop an in-depth knowledge of degree requirements in order to apply them to the degree audit process. Create accurate degree lists which include ranking and honors. Process various tasks related to finalizing students’ degree progress with steady consistency, such as: creating exceptions, approving degrees, and processing transfer credits for dual degree, transfer, and visiting students.

Registration & Enrollment Assistance (20%)

During specified periods of time, work with the Law School Assistant Registrar to enter class information in Wolverine Access. Work with students, faculty, and staff, as needed, to manage class waitlists. Process research enrollments on an ongoing basis.

Exam Administration Support (20%)

Assist the Registrar with the administration of Law School exams. This includes lending support to the: preparation of schedules; coordination of materials for the proctoring of in-class exams; printing and reconciling exams answers; and handling other tasks, as needed.

Administrative Assistance (30%)

Work with the Academic Records Assistant to respond to daily correspondence and requests. Order teaching evaluations. Develop knowledge of the overall responsibilities of the Office of Student Records in order to troubleshoot issues. Provide back-up support for overseeing the reception desk. 

Required Qualifications*

A qualified candidate will:

  • have at least 2-4 years of responsible office experience working with student records, preferably reviewing degree audits and processing transfer credits;
  • be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and be able to use computers, databases, and navigate new applications with ease;
  • practice good judgment and discretion;
  • be meticulous and efficient;
  • be able to work independently as well as cooperatively;
  • have professional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and spoken);
  • possess strong customer service skills;
  • maintain an established work schedule;
  • hold a Bachelor’s degree.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience using the Student Administration fields in MPathways.
  • Interest and background in a Law-related field or office.
