The West Ann Arbor Health Center – Parkland Plaza is the newest Ambulatory Care facility dedicated to providing high quality health care services for adults and children. The brand new 2-story facility is located 380 Parkland Plaza in Ann Arbor. Anticipated opening of the new West Ann Arbor Health Center – Parkland Plaza is November 2017.
Provides comprehensive nursing care to pediatric and adult patients during Interventional Radiology procedures. Prioritizes and provides appropriate patient care in an organized, efficient, professional and timely manner. Identifies emergency situations, initiates nursing actions and seeks assistance. Assists radiologist and technical staff in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Provides sedation/analgesia to, and monitors patients undergoing Interventional Radiological procedures per UMHS policy.
Fosters a culture of patient and family centered care by creating a positive and caring experience with every interaction. Recognizes internal and external customers and continually looks for ways to improve service for internal and external customers.
This position routinely involves:
* Constant standing, walking, transporting of equipment,
* Patient lifting, positioning, pushing, twisting, and/or transferring of patients.
* Remaining in a stationary position and/or moving for extended periods of time
* Wearing a lead apron (approx. 20-25 lbs) for several hours at a time
* Inspection & monitoring of patients from at least 20 feet in low light environment
*Providing patient care in low light/dark rooms during radiographic procedures
*Pushing stretchers with patients
*Management of blood product transfusions, including associated paper documentation.
*Using computerized data entry and medical record systems

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C (B INC).
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

- Current license to practice nursing in the State of Michigan is required.
- 5 yrs. RN experience with 2 or more years of Adult or Pediatric ICU, ED, Interventional Radiology, cardiac catheterization lab or medical procedures unit experience in the past year.
- Demonstrated effective communication and problem solving skills, ability to work collaboratively with others, excellent interpersonal and delegation skills.
- ACLS and PALS certification is required within 6 months of date of hire.

Hours/Week: 40 hours per week
Shift/Hours/Days: Day shift; Mon through Fri; (5) 8-hour shifts. Start time of 7AM or 9AM.
On call is required after orientation is completed on week nights, weekends, and holidays.

West Ann Arbor Health Center- Parkland Plaza Transfer Start Dates
This confirms the agreement reached between the University of Michigan, the University of Michigan Professional Nurse Council (UMPNC) and the Michigan Nurses Association (MNA) concerning the implementation of staggered transfer dates for hires into the West Ann Arbor Health Center- Parkland Plaza, that occur through and including November 7, 2017.
Upon an offer of a position, the transfer date will be communicated and the transfer date will also be clearly identified within the letter of transfer. The individually negotiated transfer date may be past the 30 days per Paragraph 287 language, but the transfer will not occur at a date later than November 7, 2017. While the transfer date indicates the absolute transfer date for the employee, it is understood that the employee may be released to the accepting unit sooner, whichever is feasible by mutual agreement.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
