Responsibilities*

Function as part of a team to manage patient flow in a fast paced outpatient setting.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Specimen processing, bench lab tests and quality control monitoring, taking vital signs, and immunization/medication  administration.
  • Obtain patient information.
  • Maintain, order and stock supplies for exam rooms.
  • Perform patient tests, direct assistance to the physicians.
  • Prepares examination rooms, set-up and maintain medical supplies and equipment for all examinations and procedures.

Required Qualifications*

Medical Assistant Associate:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent combination of education and 1-3 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
  • Competence in computer usage, telephone etiquette, participate in team and staff meetings, and follow clinic guidelines and protocols.
  • Must have history of excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Demonstrated abilities to efficiently manage time and prioritize multiple tasks.

Medical Assistant:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent combination of education and 0-1 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology

Desired Qualifications*

Certification as a Medical Assistant desired. Specific skills preference: 1-3 years previous experience in assisting healthcare provider with patient care, preferably in outpatient physician office setting, ambulatory care setting. Experience working in a high risk OB Clinic; hands on experience with obstetrics and gynecology procedures and IUD's including female exams and Pap smears; knowledge of surgical instruments.
