University of Michigan Human Resources (UHR) is seeking candidates for the position of Technical Writer Intermediate. NOTE: This is a two-year funded position.
The successful candidate for this position will gather information through research, statistical reports and interviews with technical staff and customers to support written documentation preparation of training materials and procedure manuals within UHR Unit IT. May also perform editing duties. Position also includes web design and document publishing duties, turning complex information into clear, concise text. Incumbent will respond to helpdesk tickets, server maintenance, customer system enhancement requests, and customer service level agreement maintenance.
Write technical reports, brochures, journal articles, and/or manuals for internal documentation customer reference including training materials or publications for varied system applications supported by HR Unit IT.
Analyze technical literature available, write descriptive copy, and verify documentation to communicate complex and technical information more easily with related departments and/or customers using system applications supported by UHR Unit IT.
Respond to helpdesk tickets, associate level server maintenance support, maintenance and preparation of service level agreements including management of application feature requests from and support of UHR Unit IT customer base.
Create end user training and documentation, including development, gathering, and dissemination of technical information among customers.
May coordinate the production and distribution of materials of various UHR Unit IT system applications.
Under supervision, perform work that is varied and that may be somewhat difficult in character.
2-5 years of professional information technology experience.
Knowledge and application of the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization.
Excellent writing and grammar skills.
Ability to work independently, delivering accurate documentation within specified deadlines.
Some evaluation, originality and ingenuity.
