5B1 Acute Care Medicine: 5B1 is a 32-bed unit that primarily includes patients admitted to the Acute Care Med service of Gastroenterology (GI/Liver) and general medicine. The interdisciplinary team provides care to patients and families across the adult life-span who are experiencing acute and chronic episodes of their illness. Why work on 5B1? Candidates must have a current Michigan Practical Nurse license. Graduation from an approved school of practical nursing and successful completion of an pharmacology course in an accredited program is necessary. Candidates should demonstrate skill in both verbal and written communication ability.
NOTE: Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.
Candidates should have the ability or a strong interest in collaborative forms of practice, including shared control with patients and their families. Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on negotiation highly desirable. Candidates should have experience in a rehabilitation, medical, or surgical nursing or with chronically ill populations.
