The lab of Dr. Muntean seeks a temporary laboratory assistant.
The successful candidate will be devoted to laboratory management and day-to-day facilitation of research activities. Primary responsibilities include: ordering and management of lab supplies and laboratory compliance with safety regulations. In addition, the candidate will assist in maintaining and organizing mouse colonies, by breeding, weaning and genotyping mice. Experimental work will include gene expression analysis, western blotting and tissue culture. The individual will be an integral part of an established cancer biology lab so communication skills, attention to detail and organization skills are essential.
HS diploma or equivalent or Associate's degree and 1 - 2 years of experience. Strong work ethic and communication skills with the ability to learn new skills and ability to work independently.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related areas and experience in a laboratory setting. Previous experience with mice is a plus. Strong candidates will demonstrate a desire to learn new skills, such as mammalian cell culture growth, western blotting, gene expression, flow cytometry, etc. Some experience with computer programs for data analysis and database maintenance.
