Job Summary

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) is the largest college at the University of Michigan with over 19,000 students and endless opportunities.  The LSA Web Services Team supports over 500 websites with our software. In addition to providing and maintaining the web platform for all of our undergraduate departments and programs, our team also supports faculty, lab and research websites on the WordPress platform.  We continually enhance the functionality of our software and are always looking for new ways to improve our web presence.

The Web Designer Associate will assist our customers with all aspects of web content setup, editing and troubleshooting and also help units improve their websites.  No coding experience is necessary for this position, though comfort using computers and web based software, attention to detail, being organized and having great people skills are all traits of an ideal candidate.

This position reports to the Manager, LSA Web Services.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Work with our team and LSA units to migrate, update, organize and troubleshoot web content issues.

Help units setup and migrate selected content to the new LSA Intranet (LSA Gateway).

Work with our WordPress lead to help setup new LSA WordPress sites for faculty, labs, and research areas.

Work with our Web Analytics lead to provide analytics data and overviews to the units in LSA primarily using Google Analytics.  This information will be used to improve sites.

Help resolve web content issues that come through our help desk ticketing system.  Our help desk lead triages tickets to others on the team as necessary to followup on submitted tickets.

Assist our Quality Assurance Coordinator and others on our team to test new enhancements and functionality.  Execute test plans developed by our QA Lead.

Serve as a consultant and expert to units looking to enhance and improve areas of their sites.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.

Excellent computer skills.

Ability to take tasks from start to finish with minimal supervision.

Manage multiple, diverse projects simultaneously

Strong communication skills.

Work effectively with others on our team including developers, trainers, and designers. Excellent attention to detail.

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently.


Willingness to be flexible, adaptable and open to new projects.

Desired Qualifications*

Experience using a web content management system.

Familiarity with WordPress website maintenance.

Previous work with Google Analytics and/or CrazyEgg software.

Basic understanding of MailChimp email software.

Proficiency using Google Drive including Google Docs.

Experience in a higher education setting.
