Job Summary

This is a Decentralized Float RN position which involves staffing assignments at multiple health center locations. 
Locations:  EAA Triage (Peds, Med Peds, OB/GYN, Adult Med), Geriatric Clinic, Outpatient Psychiatry at RUB (adult, child, adolescent), Ypsilanti Health Center (Family Medicine), **Clark Rd Rheumatology 

**We are pleased to share that Michigan Medicine is working to secure a new lease at a local facility to provide Rheumatology Clinical and Infusion (non-oncology) services.  This space currently houses a 3 physician practice and infusion center formally known as AA Rheumatology. The practice will be closing this summer and the physicians are in the process of joining Michigan Medicine as faculty.  The site is located at 3145 W Clark Road, Ypsilanti Michigan.

This is a unique opportunity for Michigan Medicine to bring on 3 new providers and infusion space to handle incremental activity while we bridge the time need for the EAA expansion. 


Provide the delivery of culturally sensitive, age-specific nursing care for clinic-based adult medicine, pediatric, OB/GYN, geriatric, outpatient adult/child/adolescent psychiatry and **rheumatology patient populations, including but not limited to:
•    Telephone triage
•    Perform health assessments and screenings
•    Provide direct patient care 
•    Teach patients and families about various medical conditions, treatments and self-care
•    Coordinate internal and external resources related to patient care
•    Accurate and expedient documentation of nursing care 
Work with physicians/providers and other disciplines to carry out clinical standards of care for various patient diagnoses and to promote continuity of care 
Know and appropriately use internal and external resources 
Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel
Collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines and health/care community services to promote continuity of care

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C (B INC) .
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Required Qualifications*

  • Current license as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan 
  • Minimum of one year of recent RN experience (within the last 5 years) in an ambulatory care clinic, home care, or emergency department setting (non-research based), providing care to adult and pediatric patients
  • Demonstrated expertise in Tele-health nursing and patient education
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills providing patient and family education, self-management and coaching related to health promotion of the patient and family
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills through use of the nursing process, excellent problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities 
  • Demonstrated adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives 
  • Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals
  • Exhibits high standards of personal and professional conduct as measured by interviews, references, and performance evaluations
  • Demonstrated accountability and dependability including good attendance and punctuality as evidenced by references and evaluations

Desired Qualifications*

  • Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation  
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish preferred


Work Schedule

Hours: 20 hours per week 
Shift/ Hours/ Days:  Monday through Friday; specific hours & days to be determined based on each clinic need (varied 8 hour shifts between 8am and 6pm).
Locations:  EAA Triage (Peds, Med Peds, OB/GYN, Adult Med), Geriatric Clinic, Outpatient Psychiatry at RUB (adult, child, adolescent), Ypsilanti Health Center (Family Medicine), **Clark Rd Rheumatology 
Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
