Job Summary

This temporary position is responsible for transporting clinic supplies to and from community clinic locations, coordinating activity at the clinic site, and assisting patients completing forms and making payment for services. In addition, the registrar ensures appropriate patient care and community relations, and represents University of Michigan, Home Care Services and Michigan Visiting Care in a positive and professional manner. Flu Clinics are provided at various locations in Wayne, Washtenaw, Livingston and Lenawee counties.

This position is temporary.  Interested applicants should apply if they are reasonably confident they will be available to work September - December.  The number of hours available varies per week based on programmatic needs.  Program runs 7 days per week, however most work is on weekdays between 8am-5pm.

Hourly wage: $10.50 /hour

 

Responsibilities*

  • Transports supplies to and from the clinic site, and assists nurses with clinic set-up and break-down
  • Communicates and interacts with customers, co-workers and the general public in a positive and effective manner.
  • Assists patients in filling out the consent/questionnaire forms as needed. 
  • Reviews each questionnaire, clarifying responses and directing questions to the nurse as necessary.
  • Verifies that the patient has signed the patient questionnaire, authorizing the nurse to perform the desired service. 
  • Defers to nursing staff for any health care related questions or situations, and follows instructions from the RN. 
  • Completes the clinic paperwork correctly, and verifies signature and insurance information where applicable to ensure that the MVC can properly bill and be reimbursed for the immunization. 
  • Collects payment for services from each patient prior to rendering of service, and provides the patient with a receipt.  Payment method may include cash, check, Medicare, specified insurance, credit card or MVC voucher.
  • Reconciles and completes all clinic reports.

Required Qualifications*

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Previous experience working with the public
  • Ability to work autonomously in a non-structured environment
  • Ability to travel from point A to point B throughout the workday as assigned.

Physical Demands:

The employee will be able to perform the assigned duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations: ability to work in a sedentary position for long periods of time, ability to communicate/ exchange information, fine motor coordination/dexterity necessary for keyboarding or typing, and may require reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, moving about, walking, lifting of up to 25 pounds, etc., with or without the use of assistive/adaptive devices.

This position is located at       various off-site clinics throughout southeast Michigan.
