Job Summary

This job opening is for a Temporary Float RN position within the Central Staffing Resource Department (CSR).  The specific cluster is for the Pediatric Dialysis Department at Mott Hospital.

**NEW BASE RATE & SHIFT DIFFERENTIALS FOR CSR STAFF NURSE TEMPS, effective 5/8/16**

Wage: $45.00/hr base rate
Evening Shift Differential is $5.00 per hour for 3p-7p and $4.00 per hour for 7p-11p
Night Shift Differential is $ 3.00 per hour
Weekend Differential is $5.00 per hour

Responsibilities*

  • Provide expert nursing care to pediatric dialysis patients and families, including ongoing management of dialysis needs, patient assessment, and phone triage.
  • Communicate and collaborate with nephrologists.
  • Provide hemodialysis treatments including but not limited to: initiating, continual monitoring/assessing, and terminating treatments for all acute and/or chronic pediatric patients.
  • Participate in ongoing management of the chronic pediatric dialysis patient via monthly interdisciplinary patient care rounds.
  • Participate in CQI Projects.
  • Provide primary nursing care to the chronic pediatric dialysis patient as assigned by the Clinical Nursing Supervisor, under the guidelines of the Primary Nurse Responsibilities Policy.

*Participate in the On-Call schedule under the guidelines of UMPNC and Pediatric Dialysis Coverage Policy.

Required Qualifications*

Current license to practice Nursing in the State of Michigan

Pediatric clinical nursing experience in an ICU and/or dialysis nursing experience

Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated excellent critical thinking skills.

Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multitask

Experience with and knowledge of current interventional and pharmacological treatment of the pediatric dialysis patient population.

Highly motivated and self-directed with demonstrated ability to function both independently and as a team member.

**Commitment is 24 hours per 4 week scheduling block**
ALL SHIFTS AVAILABLE; 4, 8 AND 12 HR BLOCKS AVAILABLE!
Location: Mott Hospital: Central Staffing Resources Specialty Cluster, Pediatric Dialysis Department
 

Please note that this position requires some weekend coverage and on-call, as staffing requires.

Additional Information

TEMPORARY FLOAT NURSE GUIDELINES
1). All CSR employees are required to attend an annual educational Blitz to complete required
UM mandatories and compentencies (BCLS every 2 yrs, Cardiac Arrest and maintain all
other applicable certifications).
2). Temporary Float Nurses are expected to work all shifts requested unless no work is
available. It is the intention that all Temps will float to all units within the cluster speciality.
3). A Temporary Nurse should work 24 hours per 4 week schedule block. You may request four
(4), eight (8), or twelve (12) hours shifts in advance.
4.) Temporary Nurses in the CSR Clusters are NOT required to work weekends or holidays. (exception-Pediatric Dialysis Unit)
5). Temporary Nurses will participate in a newly designed, streamlined, onboarding/orientation
program. However, the progression of orientation will be dependent upon clinical
competency, staffing needs of the individual units, and the number of hours worked by the
Temporary RN.
