Job Summary

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (, a joint department between the College of Engineering and the Medical School, is seeking to fill a full time lecturer position. We seek applications from individuals in all areas of biomedical engineering that will contribute to our educational mission.   We are particularly interested in applicants who can:

i) teach and mentor student teams in the BME Design Program,

ii) develop and implement experiential modules in BME laboratory classes, and

iii) instruct in one or more core biomedical engineering classes.

The specific courses taught will depend on expertise and interest. Academic rank will depend on the qualifications of the applicant.

Required Qualifications*

Candidates with a strong background in teaching are preferred. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience working with or in the medical device industry, and/or knowledge of patient safety, quality systems, and regulatory science.

Desired Qualifications*

PhD in engineering or the physical sciences, or a BS/MS degree with relevant industry experience, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching and education. A strong motivation to engage students in experiential learning and to mentor students and student teams is desirable. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute, through their teaching and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
