Job Summary

Michigan Medicine at the University of Michigan Health is seeking a top-notch candidate to manage the Clinical Nutrition Services for the C.S. Mott and Von Voigtlander Children's and Women's Hospital (C&W).

Responsibilities*

The Nutrition Services manager, directs activities of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists in the C&W Hospital, including supervision of the Milk Room Manager. This position is responsible for program planning, recruitment, hiring, training, and maintenance of competencies and quality improvement for the C&W clinical nutrition team. The Nutrition Services Manager directs activities and provides oversight for approximately 20 FTE Registered Dietitian Nutritionists in C&W with an annual payroll budget of approximately $1.25 million. The Nutrition Services Manager oversees staff development, evaluations, monitoring of quality outcomes such as malnutrition coding and treatment, patient safety in regards to nutrition care, offering of a triannual Pediatric Nutrition Specialty Conference and three separate revenue producing training practicums: Neonatal Intensive Care, Milk Room Operations and Ketogenic Diet. This position is responsible for maintaining Michigan Medicine at the University of Michigan as a nationally recognized center for pediatric nutrition care.

The incumbent will also:

  • Plan, organize, manage and control allocated resources.
  • Monitor section outcomes and adjust processes to ensure evidence-based practices and improve employee and patient satisfaction.
  • Provide input and support to the Clinical Practice Group, Enteral Formulary Committee, Nutrition Education Taskforce, Nutrition Advisory Committee, C&W Safety Huddle, Nutrition Focused Physical Examination, and other committees/workgroups as relevant.
  • Participate in the Dietetic Internship by teaching classes as appropriate and organizing supervised practice experiences and schedules, guiding and mentoring preceptors, assisting and collaborating with the Internship Director and Education Coordinator.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors' degree in nutrition, dietetics, or food service administration, granted by the U.S. regionally accredited college or university.
  • Comprehensive knowledge with experience in application of pediatric medical nutrition therapy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in verbal and written form, including collaboration with administrative managers, physicians, and other allied health and nursing leadership.
  • Demonstrated administrative experience, an example can be chairpersonship and/or leadership role on internal or external committees or organizations.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, meeting due dates, and establishing priorities
  • Ability to communicate with varied and multiple stakeholders.
  • Clinical nutrition experience in pediatric populations.
  • Registered dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and/or other related professional organization.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree in nutrition, dietetics, business, education, or related area, granted by a US. regionally accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three years managing staff.
  • Nutrition related research experience.
  • Extensive and varied experience working with clinical pediatric patients.
  • Specialty certifications such as CSP, CNSC, CDE, CSR, CSO.
