Responsibilities*

The Advising Information Assistant position provides key administrative support in the area of customer service by creating a welcoming environment for all visitors to the LSA Newnan Academic Advising Center; responding to inquiries and conveying information regarding all aspects of the College and University.

Front Desk Responsibilities (50%)

Respond to inquiries and convey information regarding all aspects of the College and University student academic policies and procedures

Screen and schedule appointments for Newnan Academic Advising Center Staff

Serve as a primary point of contact for all visitors into the center

Assist students with College procedures including drop/add, registration, withdrawal, petition submission

Student Academic Affairs Administrative Support (50%)

Support administrative processes for all of Student Academic Affairs including late add/drop, Dean’s Recommendations, judicial checks, and credit overrides only behalf of advising staff

Monitor staff calendars, collect statistics to support business practices, distribute mail, maintain stock of office supplies

Serve on office wide committees and projects as needed

Required Qualifications*

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience with web search functions and proven proficiency with MS Office programs; proficient at operating common office equipment.

Responsive, flexible, positive customer service-oriented attitude; strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize efficiently, particularly during peak periods; demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of an office team; proven accuracy and attention to detail; excellent telephone manner and people skills; willingness to perform a variety of delegated tasks having a varying degree of difficulty and priority.

Desired Qualifications*

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; familiarity with academic settings, preferably in student services with an understanding of undergraduate issues; knowledge of Wolverine Access, M-Pathways Student Administration System, and course scheduling process.

The Advising Information Assistant will be supervised by the LSA Student Academic Affairs Office Manager.

Hours/Week: 40 hours (12 months)

Shift/Hours/Days: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (M-F)
