Responsibilities*

  • Perform data analysis and problem solving in a complex healthcare environment using clinical and administrative data to deliver healthcare information services to the 340B program within Pharmacy. This includes data selection, manipulation, integration, and analysis from a variety of sources. Act as a data liaison to deliver and integrate Epic and legacy system data to support the 340B program.
  • Interact with 340B pharmacy team, external 340B vendor and reference organizations such as HRSA, APEXUS, RXX to understand and define their information requirements and to create deliverables to meet those requirements.
  • Collaborate with 340B program team and recommend optimal methods to collect, store, retrieve, and analyze data while translating business requirements into technical specification documents. Perform source system analysis and design mapping logic between source systems. Develop SQL scripts to analyze data and respond to data issue questions. Investigate and document project scope and requirements. Review, understand, and document the current operational processes and data sources to establish support for current and future reporting requirements. Develop requirements for data mapping and data transformation processes. Develop, maintain and update the extracts needed to support external 340B vendor processes.
  • Work with supervising/project managers to develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, and status reports.
  • Communicate status of work to project leadership team members, and customers. Contribute knowledge of the 340B program, including knowledge of healthcare data and common issues to team and customers. Participate in strategic planning for projects and research, and design and review technical solutions for new development and ongoing work.

Required Qualifications*

Applicants are required to have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Informatics, Business Administration or equivalent degree in another field with related experience. 

Additional requirements for senior level position: 

  • Seven years of extensive healthcare experience, preferably in data analysis or data management. 
  • Five years of experience in requirements gathering and data analysis 
  • Five years of experience in technical query writing and data integration skills using PL/SQL, Informatica, or similar 
  • Experience with data sourcing, data mapping, implementing healthcare solutions and database systems
  • Experience with documenting and analyzing workflow and clinical processes as well as creating data solutions to support these processes
  • Knowledge of analytical tools, business intelligence tools, and statistical packages
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and extraction techniques
  • Strong understanding of relational data models
  • Solid and effective written, interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to plan and facilitate meetings with diverse participants

Additional requirements for intermediate level position: 

  • 3 years experience in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Informatics, Business Administration or equivalent degree in another field with related experience. 
  • 5 years of extensive healthcare experience, preferably in data analysis or data management.
  • 3 years of experience in requirements gathering and data analysis 
  • 3 years of experience in technical query writing and data integration skills using PL/SQL, Informatica, or similar

Desired Qualifications*

  • Epic Clarity Data Model Certification
  • Experience with reporting tools; Tableau, Crystal Reports, SSRS, etc.
  • Experience with implementing solutions in the healthcare regulatory environment (HIPAA, ARRA)
  • Experience with the University of Michigan Health System
  • Demonstrated understanding of common software development methodologies and best practices
  • Completion of 340B University on-line program, willingness to acquire in-depth understanding of 340B compliance requirements
