This job posting is for a Unit-Based Temporary LPN position that will support the following clinics:
Briarwood Family Medicine
Briarwood Medical Group
Briarwood Center for Peds, Women and Young Adults
South Main Orthopaedic Surgery
Burlington Back and Pain Center
Please note: this position does not qualify for UMHS benefits and specific terms and conditions of employment are negotiated at the department level.
Telephone management: Follow up on items delegated by RN or provider (ie: complete final disposition of triage call, test results)
Collect initial data for RN triage
Prescription refills using physician approved guidelines
Conduct OB first trimester intake
Medication administration as ordered to include oral, topical, ophthalmic, as well as injections (testosterone, Depo-Provera, Toradol and antibiotics)
Provide care for patients on clinic support staff schedule
Assist with tests and procedures
Chronic pain management follow-up for prescription refills and other tasks per protocol
Initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations.
Instruct patients and families according to a teaching plan established by an RN or provider
Participate in unit staff meetings for problem-solving and improvements in patient care.
Assist in quality assurance activities.
Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan is necessary.
Successful completion of a pharmacology course in an accredited program is necessary.
Must have at least 2 years experience within the last 5 years.
Proficient in computer keyboarding skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in ways that enhance productivity and build respectful relationships.
Hours/Week: Specific hours to be negotiated upon hire
Shift: Flexible schedule to include days/afternoons/1 Saturday per month maybe required
